OBS Browser Source
Since v3.5.0, VRCT runs a small built-in HTTP server that serves a subtitle page for OBS. You add a single Browser Source in OBS pointing at VRCT's local URL, and your transcription / translation results are rendered on top of your stream or recording β no external overlay tool required.
Overviewβ
- VRCT hosts the subtitle page locally (HTTP server on
127.0.0.1). - The page is driven by the same real-time data as the WebSocket Integration feature, so what appears in OBS matches what VRCT transcribes and translates.
- Text color and the server port are configurable.
info
This replaces the previous approach of building your own overlay from the raw WebSocket stream. That method still works β see WebSocket Integration β but for OBS the built-in page is the simplest option.
How to Enableβ
- Open VRCT and go to Config Window.
- In the Advanced (or Other) settings, find the OBS / HTTP server section and enable it. The WebSocket server is used to feed the page, so keep it enabled as well.
- Note the URL and port shown in the settings (default host
127.0.0.1).
Add the Browser Source in OBSβ
- In OBS, under Sources, click + β Browser.
- Set URL to the address shown in VRCT's settings
(for example
http://127.0.0.1:<port>/). - Set Width / Height to match the region where you want subtitles.
- Click OK. Subtitles appear whenever VRCT produces a transcription or translation result.
Configurationβ
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable OBS browser source | Starts / stops the built-in HTTP server. |
| Port | TCP port the page is served on. Change it if the default is already in use. |
| Text color | Color of the subtitle text rendered in the browser source. |
| WebSocket server | Must be enabled β it supplies the real-time data to the page. |
note
Exact labels and the default port are shown in the Config Window. If OBS shows a blank source, confirm the HTTP server and the WebSocket server are both enabled and that the port matches the URL in OBS.
Troubleshootingβ
- Blank browser source: make sure both the HTTP server and the WebSocket server are enabled, and that no other app is using the configured port.
- No text appears: VRCT must be actively transcribing/translating. Test with Voice2Chatbox or Speaker2Log enabled.
- Text hard to read: adjust the text color in VRCT, or add an OBS filter / background behind the source.
